Abstract | Male and female African American college students were asked to express their perceptions of the dynamics in their family of origin by completing the Family of Origin Scale. Respondents presented strongly positive perceptions of family dynamics, viewing their families as warm, nurturing, expressive, and supportive of individual autonomy. Results support Afrocentric descriptions of African American families. (SM) |
