Abstract	A study examined present agricultural education programs in Saint Lucia and made recommendations for needed improvements. Data for the evauation were obtained from numerous documents and publications, field trips, and discussions with key officials in various ministries and institutions, including the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Education, and the Saint Lucia College of Agriculture. The existing shortage of appropriately trained agriculturalists in Saint Lucia sorely limits the possibility of the further development of agriculture in the country. Strengthening the country's program to prepare agricultural education teachers and improving agricultural and general training at the primary and secondary levels are crucial to the country's development. To accomplish this, the Ministry of Education should have at least one staff member specifically assigned the responsibility of administering and supervising agricultural education. Moreover, two persons should be assigned the task of coordinating agricultural programs in the primary and secondary schools. More and better prepared agriculture teachers are needed at all levels, and periodic studies (occurring at least every 3 years) should be conducted to determine the occupational attainments of graduates of agriculture programs. (Appendixes to this report include a listing of documents reviewed by the researcher, data on present staffing and training needs in Saint Lucia, and a brochure detailing a Michigan State University-sponsored overseas study program dealing with agricultural development and education in Taiwan.)
