Abstract | Designed to be used by health educators when teaching youths and their parents about the control of veneral disease (syphilis and gonorrhea), this booklet includes the following: (1) a two-page teaching plan consisting of objectives for both youths and adults along with notes on subject matter, methods (including titles of films and printed materials), procedure, target audience, resources (persons and materials), and follow-up and evaluation; (2) a brief outline for a youth program about venereal disease (VD) control covering potential audience groups, lecture presentation topics and film, title of a pamphlet to hand out, and suggested evaluation methods; (3) a brief outline for a VD control program for young and middle-aged adults covering potential target groups, presentation topics, and film; (4) suggestions for including VD education with other programs and hints on how to reach youth on the topic of VD; (5) brief descriptions of five recommended films; (6) a listing of recommended printed materials, the name and address of their source, and the intended target audience; (7) fifty questions and answers about VD control; and (8) six pages of content on syphilis and gonorrhea including nature and cause, symptoms, effects, detection methods, treatment, most susceptible persons, preventative measures, and screening and/or treatment contact.
