AbstractDespite incredible advances of humanity, inequality, worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic, remains an unresolved issue at a global level. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), established in 2000 by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, seek to address those inequities through a series of objectives to be reached by the year 2030. The goals focus on the most urgent problems of the world and require cooperation and coordination among public and private, global and local actors to succeed. One of these goals, SDG 4, focuses on education: "Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all." In 2016, two of Spain's largest foundations, Telefonica Foundation and "la Caixa" Foundation, came together to create a program that would contribute to reducing the educational gap in the world by providing quality digital education to children living in vulnerable areas in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia. The program was born under the premise that investing in education contributes to a country's development and poverty reduction. In this article, the author begins by discussing the ProFuturo program and its commitment to education. She goes on to describe ProFuturo's Digital Education Framework and cascade teacher training model. Finally she addresses the challenges and opportunities the COVID-19 pandemic brought to ProFuturo and two key aspects of ProFuturo's contingency plan. (ERIC).
