Abstract | The article provides a comparative analysis of models of lesson planning in four different cultural and academic traditions. In the United Kingdom, in Canada and the United States, lesson planning focuses on learning experiences. In the Russian tradition the lesson planning is teacher-centred. In the Scandinavian countries, local school autonomy and the students' self-activity are important. In Germany, the current discourse leads towards the integration of the lesson planning models by Wolfgang Klafki and by Wolfgang Schulz. Klafki's model is based on the Human Science Education Theory ("geisteswissenschaftliche Padagogik") and on the Critical Theory of Society, and Schulz's model is based on the participation of students in establishing the curriculum. The author discusses the question whether a combination of the different foci in a European lesson planning model becomes feasible and whether such a model is desirable. (DIPF/Orig.). |
