Abstract | Despite what some students believe, there is far more to business law education than mastering myriad legal rules governing business. In addition to learning the "rules," many business law instructors want students to obtain a basic understanding of legal analysis and judicial decision-making. This article provides guidance for instructors who want an easy entry point for introducing business students to the basics of legal analysis and reasoning. The article proceeds as follows: Part I of the article discusses two highly accessible cases that can be used early in the semester to introduce students to the challenges of legal interpretation. Part II of the article explicitly outlines three key lessons that business students can glean from the two cases. Part III of the article briefly addresses how the cases can inform a business law instructor's treatment of numerous, substantively important topics within the business law discipline. (ERIC). |
