(DIPF/Orig.) In this article, the innovative methodology of the Design-Based Research approach is presented theoretically. Using the concept development in the L-Of-esE project (Organizational Structures of Learning for Special Needs Students with Social-Emotional and Behavioral Difficulties) as an example, the opportunities, challenges and limitations for the application in research in special education with a focus on emotional and social development are presented and discussed.
