Abstract | Those who have studied the future of South Korea project that education will be the critical driving force in realizing future advances. This study focuses on teacher education and, by building on previous research on alternative futures, seeks to explore a number of issues. The issues are examined in seven chapters: (1) Humanizing future citizens; (2) Teacher education and teacher characteristics for building humanized future citizens; (3) Perceptions concerning policies for future teacher education; (4) Policy tasks for realization of humanization for education; (5) Policy strategies for humanistic campus-based pre-service education; (6) Retraining strategies for in-service teachers; and (7) Conclusion.
