Abstract | This curriculum packet, appropriate for grades 4-8, features a teaching poster which shows different types of maps (different views of Salt Lake City, Utah), as well as three reproducible maps and reproducible activity sheets which complement the maps. The poster provides teacher background, including step-by-step lesson plans for four geography and map reading lessons: (1) "Introduction to Maps"; (2) "Some Things You Need to Know to Read a Map"; (3) "What You Can Learn from a Map"; and (4) "Reading a Topographic Map." The packet suggests a variety of inquiry strategies that appeal to different learning styles. (BT) |
