AbstractThe curriculum guide is the fifth in a series of annotated bibliographies of adult basic and literacy education (ABLE) learner resources. It is designed to allow educators to take advantage of the growing corpus of materials for this population. An introductory section describes the guide, criteria for selection of its content, and an explanation of the system used to rate the materials. The listing of materials, primarily instructional materials, is divided into eight sections: life skills; family literacy; vocational skills; mathematics; reading; General Educational Development (GED) test and pre-GED instruction; social studies; and writing. For each resource listed, these items are identified: purpose (academic, vocational, family literacy life skills); setting (class, tutor, self-directed); format (core series, basic text, supplemental, reference); level (adult literacy, adult basic education, pre-GED, GED, multilevel); and skills targeted (critical thinking, grammar, math, reading, social studies, spelling, vocabulary). A publisher index and list of publisher's addresses are appended. (MSE) (Adjunct ERIC Clearinghouse on Literacy Education)
