Abstract | This packet is designed to supplement the teaching about insects at the elementary school level. It includes: (1) a set of 15 full-color insect photo cards; (2) a collection of ready-to-copy stories from the magazine "Ranger Rick"; and (3) a variety of activities that relate to the stories and photo cards and emphasize science, language arts, and social studies skills. The activities focus on both skills and content, with teaching objectives listed for each. The skills and objectives are highlighted in the left-hand margin, along with the materials needed for each activity, the subject areas covered, and the recommended age group. The stories, photo cards, and activities in this packet also have some references to portions of the "Incredible Insects" volume of the periodical"NatureScope." Also included are reproducible worksheets and handouts. (TW) |
