Abstract	Solar power (also known as solar energy) is solar radiation emitted from the sun. Large panels that absorb the sun's energy as the sun beats down on them gather solar power. The energy in the rays can be used for heat (solar thermal energy) or converted to electricity (photovoltaic energy). Each solar energy project, from conception to installation, requires the services of many technicians with various skills. Some are construction craft workers, such as plumbers, carpenters, roofers, and sheet metal workers, who install or repair solar energy systems. This article discusses what students need to know about careers for solar energy technicians--wages, responsibilities, skills needed, and career advancement possibilities. (ERIC).
