Abstract | This manuscript describes a major revision and update of the First Step to Success Early Intervention Program, now called First Step Next. The original First Step Program was published in 1997 and the revised, updated version was published in 2015 (Walker et al.). First Step Next is a collaborative, Tier II school- and family-supported early intervention that teaches school success skills to give students the best start possible in their school career. This manuscript covers five major topics: (1) program history, (2) rationale and procedures for the First Step revision, (3) First Step Next implementation, (4) maintenance and follow up procedures, and (5) current and future research on First Step Next. (As Provided). |
