Abstract | Luxembourg ... has an extremely high number of foreign children (37%) in the national schools, which are both highly selective and very difficult. Adding to all this a growth in the divorce rate and in the incidence of marriage breakdown, one quickly reaches a non-certification level of between 40 and 50% and a non-qualification level of between 25 and 40%. The article provides a detailed description of the main characteristics of the different levels of the school system, the teaching content and teaching methods and the anomalous position of teacher training. A list of the possible short and long-term means of combatting this new problem in schools concludes this paper. (DIPF/orig.) |
