AbstractIssues 256 through 265 of "Fast Facts" from the Library Research Service present data collected from libraries in Colorado and throughout the nation. Topics addressed in these "Fast Facts" from 2008 include computer usage by public library patrons, Colorado summer reading programs, children's' use of public libraries, and the distribution of jobs for school librarian jobs in Colorado. Also addressed in these brief reports are differences in financial support for library districts and other types of public libraries, an evaluation of Colorado's LibraryJobline.org, and challenged materials in Colorado public libraries during the previous year. The following "Fast Facts" titles from 2008 are included in this document: (1) Colorado Public Libraries Respond Positively to Changing Information Needs (Amanda Rybin); (2) LibraryJobline.org: The First Year (Regina Avila, Zeth Lietzau, and Nicolle Steffen); (3) Colorado Public Libraries Help Children Get Ready to Read (Robbie Bravman Marks); (4) School Library Cohort, 2005-07: Trends to Watch (Amanda Rybin); (5) Colorado Library Districts Show Greater Increases in Use & Financial Support than Other Public Library Types (Jennifer French); (6) Computer Users at JCPL are More Likely to be Very Active Patrons (Zeth Lietzau); (7) Challenged Materials in Colorado Public Libraries, 2007 (Regina Avila); (8) Colorado Summer Reading Programs More Popular Than Ever (Robbie Bravman Marks); (9) More School Librarians for Metro Areas, Fewer for Non-Metro (Zeth Lietzau & Regina Avila); and (10) The Kids Have It: Children's Use of Public Library Services Continues to Grow (Robbie Bravman Marks).
