Abstract | Golf is a lifetime sport that can have a positive influence on children in many ways. Golf provides physical educators a means of teaching character education, etiquette, and interdisciplinary concepts such as math, in addition to physical education objectives such as motor skills, coordination, and flexibility. When teaching golf in schools, physical educators should start at the elementary level by teaching striking skills along with golf-related conceptual knowledge. Physical educators must remember that the goal is to introduce children to a new activity, and help them develop the confidence and requisite skills to be successful in their endeavor. This article addresses several of the most common concerns about golf education at the elementary level, and provides four easy-to-use keys that should help students thrive in this experience.
