Abstract | The purpose of this study is to educate administrators, teachers and parents on educational services available to students diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Schools are required by federal and state laws to provide a student with a disability a free appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment that is appropriate to the individual student's needs (IDEIA, 2004). Many general educators that participate in meetings designed to maximize individual student achievement do not have a clear understanding of what it means to have a medical disability versus having an educational need for services. The literature review of this document focused on educational services. This project assisted in the determination that many school districts would benefit from a staff development on educational services available to assist students diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
