AbstractHistorically universities have been academically focused institutions; however, in recent years they have begun to resemble a corporate business. The purpose of this dissertation was to determine the faculty senate's perceptions of the budget decision-making process at a public institution of higher education in Texas. The institution under study for this research was made up of approximately 8,000 students and 400 faculty members. The instruments used in this explanatory mixed method study were a web-based survey provided to faculty senate members followed by personal interviews. Descriptive statistics, frequency tables, rank order means, and ANOVA were used to analyze the data and compare the faculty senator's responses. Interview data were analyzed for common themes. Triangulated findings indicated there are similarities and differences in the perceptions of the faculty senate towards the budget decision-making process. Seven significant findings were revealed during the research and are discussed throughout the dissertation.
