Abstract | The author was hoping to sneak in here, because he is a rank amateur at General Semantics, but over the years he have had a memory of an evening with Korzybski at Columbia University years ago. And he of course, read Science and Sanity. On the way down here tonight he stopped to ask himself what he had retained. He think he can list very simply what stuck, and he can easily see how it connects with the work he have done since. Clearly, Korzybski was not his only influence -- people are bombarded by stimuli and ideas from all over the place. In short, the emphasis on process that Korzybski stressed is present in all the intellectual work his wife and him have done over the years. He thank you for what you are doing. He popped in on just a whim, knowing he was just an hour away, and he thank you for letting him crash your party. |
