Abstract | Foreign language films generate language acquisition, international cultural films help with global business interactions, medical videos teach students new medical procedures, and movies based on books encourage reading. Films can be instructional as well as FUN! Yet some of these cinematic materials receive little to no attention, not to mention support resources that complement them, such as a movie's corresponding book, movie reviews, or film-related reference materials. According to the author, many of their patrons, including faculty, are often not aware that they own films. Initiating a "reel" marketing campaign can help influence students, faculty, and staff to use exciting, engaging, and educational tools that are often overlooked. By promoting movie collections, patrons will find the library to be a more inviting place to visit. (ERIC). |
