AbstractThis study investigates the relation between nonresident fathers' parenting style, mothers' parenting style and behaviors, and depression and antisocial behavior in a sample of late-adolescent boys (n = 177). Hierarchical regression analyses were performed. Maternal psychological well-being was associated with fewer adolescent depression symptoms. When mothers had low or average amounts of aggravation in parenting, fathers' more authoritative parenting was related to fewer depression symptoms in their adolescents. Maternal aggravation in parenting was associated with adolescent antisocial behavior. When mothers had low or average levels of authoritative parenting, fathers' more authoritative parenting was related to less antisocial behavior in their adolescents.
