Abstract | This sequenced activity encourages active engagement with the idea that listening and speaking are not inherently separate or one-way activities. Listening involves both verbal, and nonverbal responses and perceptions of effective listening are tied to these patterns of response. These patterns of response impact both the immediate communication and the relationship of those communicating. This activity focuses primarily on the verbal listening response styles and involves directed discussion, video analysis, and role playing. Although this activity is discussed as a class activity, it also works as a workshop activity. (As Provided). |
