Abstract | As most college-level instructors would agree, teaching aspiring teachers is no easy task. However, an added challenge presents itself when instructors must "enact" that which they are teaching. Each time public speaking and education professors stand before their college students, they are faced with the task of not only "teaching" the required material but also "being an example" of that which they are teaching. In this paper, the author suggests a very simple but successful in-class activity for freshman education majors in the public speaking classroom. The activity utilizes film as its basis for instruction and follows in the footsteps of several "Communication Teacher" articles that draw from movie clips to clarify concepts in the classroom. The particular film-based exercise encourages students to explore different teaching styles and delivery methods as portrayed in film as well as in their own lived experience. (Contains 1 table.)
