Abstract | For the author, it all began with a summer trip to London and Paris. Inspired by the art and architecture of London and Paris, she was determined to bring her experience back home to her students. To do this, she organized a lesson in world landmarks focusing on structures of importance that fit into three categories: relevance to the world, relevance nationally, and relevance locally. Herein, the author describes how her students made mixed-media collages. With each session, students added a new layer to the collage via a new process. The lesson proved to be a successful project because of the open-ended, experimental nature of the process. Each student felt a degree of success and had the satisfaction of making a lasting artistic contribution to their school. (ERIC). |
