Abstract	In this article, the author discusses the social issues that concern the young adolescents in Russia and their early onset to sexual activity. The early onset of sexual activity among adolescents in Russia is taking place under conditions that are quite specific. These conditions include: a low level of contraceptive awareness, a very small number of special medical and psychological counseling services and programs for the sex education of adolescents especially outside of major cities, inadequate relevant knowledge on the part of adults who deal with adolescents in connection with their professional duties, the spread of drunkenness and narcotics abuse, and increasing rates of rape. The particular results of these aspects include unplanned pregnancies among underage girls, the outcomes of which always pose problems, such as getting an abortion, early motherhood, forced early marriages, the practice of keeping a child in a children's shelter for a time, and child relinquishment. An interview was carried out to underage females who had an abortion as well as mothers who had given birth before they reached the age of eighteen, had not given up their maternal rights, and the child was not more than five years old at the time of the interview. Results from the analysis of the interviews indicate that there are at least four types of scenarios in which underage girls have their first sexual encounter, in terms of its voluntary nature and initiative.
