| Abstract | National Board Certification is intended to indicate that "a teacher is judged by his or her peers as one who is accomplished, makes sound professional judgments about students' best interests, and acts effectively on those judgments." This author, the first National Board Certified Art Teacher in Georgia, offers a first-hand perspective on her experiences as a candidate and as a facilitator for other teachers seeking certification. Kerr states that she found involvement with National Board Certification to be a highly creative experience, and believes in and supports the National Board Certification because it is based on criteria that promote inquiry and could move education toward a multifaceted outlook.
