Abstract | Social-communicative transactions between five young, preverbal children with Down Syndrome and their mothers were compared with those of five developmentally matched nonretarded child-mother dyads. Although overall similarities were found, Down Syndrome children initiated less communication even though their mothers responded more to their social-communicative signals. (Author/KM) |
