Abstract | Investigates a wide range of communicative hand/arm gestures of four-year-old males interacting with their mothers. One trained observer coded videotaped behavior for the incidence of "deictic,""pantomimic," and "semantic-modifying and relational" hand or arm gestures. Results are viewed as demonstrating the link between cognitive development and hand/arm gesture development. (Author/RH) |
