Abstract | The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly impacted families worldwide. The long-term impacts of the pandemic's disruptions on childhood and child development may not be known for many years. Early educators can respond to challenges stemming from the disruption in the consistency of schooling and beneficial programming for early learners by generating supportive programming and parenting support that are aimed at addressing the needs of children impacted by the pandemic. Practices such as play-based therapeutic supports can address a child's need to process difficulties they experienced in a child-friendly environment. This article aims to provide context for the detrimental impacts of the pandemic on childhood and the therapeutic role of play as intervention to build resilience. (ERIC). |
