AbstractThe purpose of this research was to examine the connection between intermediate EFL students' oral performance and their emotional intelligence (EI) as well as desire to communicate (WTC). The main objectives of this research were to examine how willing English-language learners were to communicate, in order to discover whether there was a substantial connection between oral and WTC ability in their English language courses. The researchers collected data from 86 male and female students ranging in age from 17 to 40 years. Pearson correlation tests and regression analysis were used to examine the data. The Cambridge Placement Test, the Bar-On Emotional Quotient, and the WTC Scale were all utilized in this study. The findings indicated that both variables (EI and WTC) had a substantial connection with learners' speaking performances; however, EI was more predictive of learners' speaking performances.
