Abstract | "Dawn" is an autobiographical university theatre production based on the narrative of Samanyanga, a University of Zimbabwe undergraduate. The article draws from interview materials, personal communication and observations to theorise the experience of participating in the project. The concepts of "Aesthetics of Existence" and "Technologies of the Self" are used to explore how participants acquired enhanced resources to unearth and challenge the political economy of soccer and how its power-knowledge system is implicated in the 'manufacture' of bodily impairments. The article demonstrates the tensions that may emerge from a theatrical exploration of this process. (As Provided). |
