Abstract | Sports science is still one of the fastest growth areas in science across the world. There isn't a professional sports team that does not have a host of sports scientists to analyse and improve every minute detail of their performance. So how is this relevant to a primary school? Making real-life links to other areas of life is very important in demonstrating the relevance of science in the real world -- even in sport and physical education (PE). In this article, Paul Tyler details a number of aspects of science that can be directly linked to sport and PE in a practical way. The science of sport makes a brilliant class or whole-school topic, or science week theme, as there are activities that can be done at every stage through the school. (ERIC). |
