Abstract | The phenomenon of cheating on exams, which harms both the reputation of an academic institution and the students who don't cheat, is becoming increasingly common. We attempt to shed light on this phenomenon using data from a survey of graduates of the College of Management Academic Studies in Israel. Three aspects of the problem are examined: 1) the ways in which the incidence of cheating can be reduced; 2) the profile of students in Israel who consider cheating on exams or actually do so; and 3) the attitudes of students towards cheating on exams. The results show that more severe punishment and more stringent supervision are the two most effective ways of reducing cheating on exams. (As Provided). |
