AbstractThe purpose of this study was to examine university students' aggressive behavioral tendencies. Students ("n" = 405) at a Midwestern University, were selected as study sample. This study hypothesized that demographic variables (e.g., age, gender, class standing, racial minority status, and G.P.A. score) and study variables (e.g., self-esteem, peer relation, sensation seeking, leisure boredom, impulsivity, and preference for violent films) were related to aggressive behavioral tendencies of this sample. First, zero-order correlations between the independent variables (e.g., demographic and research variables) and dependent variable (e.g., aggressive behavioral tendencies) were used to examine the relationships. Except for two variables (e.g., self-esteem and age), all demographic and study variables were found to be associated with aggressive behavioral tendencies. Second, simultaneous multiple regression analyses were utilized to identify significant predictors of aggressive behavioral tendencies. As a result, preference for violent films, racial minority status, G.P.A., and sensation seeking were found to be significant predictors of aggressive behavioral tendencies among university students. (As Provided).
