Abstract	His name is Brett Schmidt, and he is a college student with Autism. His greatest challenge of having autism is communication. When he first applied to Briarcliffe College, he was given an e-mail address to the Campus Portal. He had to train himself to look at the portal frequently for communication and information. On the start of the semester, he prints out syllabi and class notes from the portal and put them in three-ring binders. When readings are assigned, he likes to take notes, as he goes for facts as well as vocabulary, and print them. Over the four years, it is important to have a go-to person either through the Learning Center or Office of Accommodations. He took full advantage of testing accommodations. He always sits up front so that he can hear and reduce distractions. Over the years, he has become more confident about speaking in front of the class. He offers tips on how professors should work with students who have autism as well as what students with autism should do to help one's self in the his/her college journey. (ERIC).
