AbstractProblem: The problem of this study was to determine the relationship between parenting stress and six specified predictor variables of spirituality among mothers of elementary children attending selected Korean Baptist churches located in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. The specified predictor variables of spirituality were awareness, instability, disappointment, grandiosity, realistic acceptance, and impression management measured by the Spiritual Assessment Inventory (SAI). Procedures: One hundred-six Korean-American mothers of elementary children (1st-5th grades) from eleven Korean Baptist churches located in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area completed the survey packet, and one hundred-two were eligible to participate in the study. The survey packet contained a demographic questionnaire, the Parenting Stress Index-Short Form (PSI-SF), and the Spiritual Assessment Inventory (SAI). A multiple regression was conducted to determine the relationship between mothers' parenting stress as measured by PSI-SF and six predictor variables of spirituality as measured by SAI. Findings and Conclusion: The standard multiple regression analysis demonstrated that Awareness, Grandiosity, Realistic Acceptance, and Disappointment of the SAI were not significant predictors of mothers' parenting stress. However, the analysis indicated that Instability was a significant positive predictor of parenting stress, and Impression Management was a significant negative predictor of parenting stress. The result revealed that mothers who scored high on the Instability and who scored low on the Impression Management scale tended to report higher parenting stress level.
