| Abstract | During the fourth quarter of fiscal year 1995, personnel from the University of Memphis continued to be on-site evaluating the Synergy Foundation's project funded by the U.S. Department of Justice. Through observation of the program, interviewing participants (N=173) and personnel, administering qualitative instruments, and analyzing records, it was concluded that the Synergy project is accomplishing its objectives to a high degree. The main thrust of the project continues to be the rehabilitation of persons addicted to an array of drugs through programs involving education, counseling, therapy, and work. This is where the greatest level of satisfaction occurs among the residents. Changes in personnel and the continuance of key persons in leadership positions have led to a continual fine-tuning of the operational procedures, a repetition of successful program emphases, a high expectation for success, and a belief in the improvability of the participant. The ability to modify the program to reach achievable and realistic goals has generated high morale among the staff, and has been noted by the participants.
