Abstract | A project was conducted to develop a curriculum in snowmobile repair and to determine if that curriculum was appropriate for snowmobile training programs in secondary schools throughout the state of Alaska. The completed curriculum was distributed by the Alaska Department of Education to snowmobile training personnel in the state. A stratified sample of 58 instructors across the state was surveyed to determine if the curriculum was being used or if it would be useful in the future, with 29 usable surveys returned. The results of the survey were subjected to a chi-square statistical test to determine if there existed a relationship between the usefulness of the curriculum and the community type served by the training program. Analysis of the data showed no statistically significant relationship between the usefulness of the snowmobile repair curriculum and the community type. The study found that the curriculum is appropriate instructional material for Alaskan snowmobile repair programs, regardless of the community type served. (A review of instructors' comments also led to corrections in the curriculum, which are included in this report.) (KC) |
