AbstractThis book provides elementary and middle school teachers with practical ideas on the use and teaching of graphs. Five sections consist of: (1) "Graphs--What Are They and How Are They Used?"; (2) "Levels of Graph Comprehension"; (3) "Collecting, Organizing, and Analyzing Data"; (4) "Constructing, Interpreting, and Writing about Graphs"; and (5) "Classroom Activities" (25 activities). The topic, graph form, grade level, graph title, objectives, vocabulary, materials, procedure, questions for discussion, and writing and reading are described for each of the activities. Lists of references, software, and a selected bibliography are provided. A list of graph topics appropriate for grade levels, worksheets, data collection sheets, and supplemental activities are appended. (YP)
