Abstract | This curriculum guide provides materials for a competency-based course in recreational vehicle trades at the secondary level. The curriculum design uses the curriculum infused model for the teaching of basic skills as part of vocational education and demonstrates the relationship of vocationally related skills to communication, mathematics, and science knowledge. Basic skills matrices are provided that indicate the curriculum in which each skill is studied. A list of course objectives precedes the curriculum. Course materials are divided into units, each of which correlates task, theory, communication skills, mathematics skills, science knowledge, and student outcomes. Units include tools, fasteners, measurement, shop manuals, engine, crankshaft and bearings, pistons and connecting rods, valves and valve train, lubrication system, fuel system, cooling system, gasoline, electrical system, battery, starting system, charging system, ignition system, drive train, drive line, differentials, suspension, steering systems, brake system, tires and wheels, heating and air conditioning, emission controls, and welding.
