Abstract | This document provides a listing of the revised sequence of mathematics skills to be taught in grades K-6 in the Lancaster (Pennsylvania) School District. For each level the individual skills are grouped into categories, listed in sequence, and cross-referenced to specific pages in three mathematics textbook series. The categories of skills relate to: (1) sets and patterns; (2) numbers, numeration, and place value; (3) addition of whole numbers; (4) measurement; (5) geometry; (6) special topics; (7) subtraction of whole numbers; (8) fractions and decimals; (9) problem solving and application; (10) multiplication of whole numbers; and (11) division of whole numbers. Included is a statement of the philosophy of the mathematics department, a list of the goals of the mathematics program, directions for the use of the guide, a note on the recommended daily time allotments for kindergarten, primary, and intermediate grades, and an explanation of the symbols, signs, and abbreviations used in the guide.
