Abstract | This curriculum guide, which was validated by vocational teachers and mechanics in the field, describes the competencies needed by entry-level automotive mechanics. This guide lists 15 competencies; for each competency, various tasks with their performance objective, student learning experiences, suggested instructional techniques, instructional materials, and resources are provided. The curriculum guide also includes articulated competency/skill and task lists, an employability skills charts crosswalk, a list of basic hand tools needed by mechanics, and a bibliography. These materials are intended to assist teachers in secondary and postsecondary vocational programs in developing a course of study, structuring learning sequences, determining standards of performance, and locating resources.
