Abstract | Chapter 4 in a book on school law provides a general overview of the various federal statutes directed toward discrimination in employment and considers some of the recent developments under these statutes. The first section is a survey of the employment discrimination laws and their interrelationships. The second section analyzes more closely recent cases under the Civil Rights Act of 1871, particularly as related to school district and school-official immunity and to the scope of claims permitted under that law.
