Abstract | This curriculum guide is intended to assist teachers, administrators, and supervisors in organizing and conducting vocational programs which meet the needs of high school students who desire vocational training in the off-farm agribusiness of agricultural machinery service. The three-year course for grades 10, 11, and 12 involves operation, maintenance, set-up, adjustement, repair, reconditioning, and overhaul of agricultural machinery and equipment. It includes dealership organization, management, sales, human relations, and leadership development topics. Study of career opportunities and development of job experience through supervised occupational experiences are also a part of the program. Designed for 1080 hours of in-school instruction (360 per year), the course needs two consecutive periods per day for class instruction. Each of the three years is divided into 8-10 major learning areas which are organized into this format: (1) unit concept, (2) suggested student performance objectives, (3) instructional areas, (4) examples of student learning activities, (5) competencies, (6) instructional materials, and (7) supporting references. A list of 100 references is provided. Other materials include a list of recommended equipment, recommended facility plans, and criteria for quality vocational programs in agricultural education.
