Abstract	This handbook is designed to help educators and community people encourage young women to consider science- and math-based careers. The book explains how to plan, conduct, evaluate, and follow-up conferences designed to increase young women's interest in mathematics and science. The author feels that an intense day of exposure to female role models and career information, and positive hands-on experiences with math and science activities, can spark the spirit, trigger the imagination, and encourage young women to consider many new and exciting career opportunities. Materials contained in the appendix include: six hands-on workshop activities; suggested titles for workshops; sample brochure and news release; preconference and postconference questionnaires; a national resource list; a bibliography; some startling statements about women in science and mathematics; and a suggested time line for the conference.
