| Abstract | This bilingual annotated bibliography of French and English films about the Indians and Inuit of North America contains entries for more than 1200 films made between 1965 and 1978. Although most of the films are in English, about 100 French films are included. Their titles are listed alphabetically in an Index of "Films in French". There are 4 main indices. The Index of Subjects lists in French the main subject areas of the films about North American Indians and, in a separate list, about the Inuit. The Subject Index lists the English title of all films pertaining to each subject area. There are separate subject indices for North American Indian and Inuit films. The Main Title Index lists Indian and Inuit films together and is organized alphabetically by film title. French films are listed alphabetically in both languages with the major entry for the film appearing under the English version of the title. Entries include the following information in English: country and year of production, length, color or black and white, producer, and distributor. Film descriptions are given in both French and English. About 175 film distributors and their addresses are included in the Distributors Index, organized alphabetically by company name. (SB) |
