| Abstract | Forty-seven course outlines and reading lists about manpower development are presented. They reflect the diversity of academic programs which deal with manpower policies and programs in economics, sociology, industrial and labor relations, urban studies and urban planning, public administration, business and management, and social work. Courses offered at undergraduate and graduate levels are included, although more concentrated attention is paid to manpower and employment issues in specialized graduate programs. The document is organized around the perspective of social work education and practice. Representative course outlines and reading lists are grouped according to the following seven categories: (1) introductory all-purpose manpower courses, (2) human resources development, (3) labor market economics, (4) special manpower problems of disadvantaged groups, (5) manpower problems and policies, (6) manpower planning, program design and evaluation, and (7) specialized issues in the world of work. Institutions represented include Columbia University Graduate School of Business, University of Kansas School of Social Welfare, University of Michigan School of Social Work, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Cornell University New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
