Abstract | This paper examines the significance of the Intangible Cultural Heritage for education, learning and socialization. It starts from the premise that in the Anthropocene, in which humans have become a force determining the fate of the planet, it is important for shaping the present and the future to engage with nature and culture as the common heritage of humankind. In doing so, it is important to develop a new relationship to nature, in which nature is not only functionalized for the satisfaction of human needs but is seen and experienced as a co-world. As such, it must be preserved and cared for. In this situation, the traditional demarcations between nature and culture lose their distinctiveness, there is hardly any nature left that is not influenced by man. In this situation, several programs are being developed in UNESCO, with the help of which a new understanding of the heritage of mankind is to be created. The Intangible Cultural Heritage is of considerable importance in this context. A conscious confrontation with it is suitable to make an important contribution to the development of global citizenship. All 5 areas of the convention are important for this: 1) Oral traditions and forms of expression; 2) Music, body language, performing arts; 3) Customs, festivals, rituals throughout the year; 4) People and nature; 5) Crafts. The effectiveness of the practices this convention unfolds through the human body, the performative nature of the practices, the mimetic learning processes and the experiences of alterity and intercultural learning. In all cases, knowledge, know how, and transmission are the task. (DIPF/Orig.). |
