(DIPF/Orig.). This study explores test anxiety of children in year 4 at the end of German primary school and its relations with likely school type recommendation and parental support provided to the child. A total of 365 fourth graders and their parents were surveyed shortly before receiving the official school type recommendation. Analysis shows that high test anxiety rates are associated with less prestigious school type recommendations. High levels of Parental support are associated with higher test anxiety rates. The results suggest a number of school type related correlations: Parental support has high predictive power for children with a recommendation for a "Gymnasium" and is insignificant for students with a "Realschul-" or "Hauptschul"-recommendation. Reasons and implications are being discussed. (DIPF/Orig.). |
