AbstractThe reported study investigates the Language for Special Purposes of popularising texts in paediatrics. The invariant particularities of the different types of these specialised texts are analysed in the first part of the study. The author concentrates his attention on the strategies for overcoming of the asymmetrical relationships in communication, on the questions of the transformation of professional knowledge from the author of the specialised text to its recipient, on problems of topic reference and density of information and to the structure of texts. Furthermore the author of the study responses to invariant characteristics in stylistics, syntax and semantics of the studied types of texts. It is stated that the combination of the different types of specialised texts in paediatrics is also related to the invariant characteristics of these popularising texts. In the second part of the study the author investigates the variant characteristics of specialised text types in paediatrics using the example of the comic as one type of specialised texts. The relationship in communication, cognitive criterions, characteristics of contents and subject, the function of texts are analysed in the study as well as the intentions and the procedures of communication and stylistic, semantic and syntactical particularities. In general it can be noticed that the selection of the appropriate type of specialised texts, the application of these texts for a very special purpose and the consequent concentration on essential medical terms form an important basis for an effective and adequate formation of the written communication between the physician and the patient. Coincidentally they can create preconditions of a well-working verbal communication. Therefore popularising medical texts in paediatrics have to establish the ability of the recipients (children or their parents) to communicate with the medical staff and they have to avoid, to reduce or to eliminate disturbances in communication.
